Celebrating Fenland

The Festival of the Fens brings residents together for three days of enjoyment and regional pride. A true showcase for Fenland, this new annual event will celebrate community, the arts, sports, heritage, industry and commerce. Community organisations, schools, sports clubs, faith groups, our public services and the regional business community are invited to come together to form a cohesive unit with a shared objective to make the event a success.

The activities staged will appeal to all generations and all ethnic groups promoting cohesion and integration. Whether as visitors, traders, performers or volunteers, participation in the Festival of the Fens will help residents to see different sides of the community and form new social networks. Their sense of pride and identification with Fenland will increase and flow through into higher levels of engagement and social action. As the event evolves we expect it to stimulate communities to develop projects and to share in the responsibility for creating an ever more vibrant and active region.

The Festival of the Fens will of course need the support of the region’s business community to make it a success. As a new annual event,participation is even more special in the launch year as the organisations who help to stage the festival will be very much the foundation of a project that will build a future sustainable revenue stream to support its growth. Financial support, support in-kind or the donation of infrastructure, services or manpower can all make an extraordinary impact to its success.
